Our History
Shady Pine Mennonite Church has been sharing the love of Jesus in Path Valley for nearly 80 years. Our story began in 1947, when Franklin Mennonite Conference established Shady Pine as an outreach to the families of the Path Valley community. From the beginning, the heart of Shady Pine has been simple: love people, welcome them, and point them to Jesus. Over the decades, generations of families have worshiped, served, grown, and found a church home here. What began as a small ministry in the valley became a church family known for welcoming people from many different backgrounds and walking alongside them through the joys and difficulties of life. Much has changed since 1947, but our purpose remains the same. We are grateful for the faithful men and women who came before us, and we believe God is still writing the story of Shady Pine. As we look toward the future, we want to build upon that foundation—remaining rooted in God’s Word, centered on Jesus Christ, and committed to sharing His hope with our community and the generations to come. Our history is a testimony of God’s faithfulness. Our future is an opportunity to continue His mission.
Meet Our Pastor
Pastor Andy Thomas has a passion for faithfully teaching God's Word and helping people take their next step in following Jesus. His desire is to see lives transformed through the truth of Scripture and for the local church to become everything God designed it to be. Andy became the pastor of Shady Pine Community Church in 2026. He is committed to verse-by-verse biblical preaching, authentic discipleship, and building a church centered on Christ, grounded in God's Word, and focused on reaching the community with the hope of the Gospel. Andy and his wife, Cassondra, love serving together and are grateful to call Shady Pine Community Church home. Their prayer is that every person who walks through the doors feels welcomed, encouraged, and challenged to grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ. Whether you're exploring faith for the first time or have been walking with Christ for years, Pastor Andy would love to welcome you to Shady Pine Community Church.
